We’re looking for someone who can make the numbers dance and keep the department human. Yes, accuracy matters (we don’t want to botch a single total), but so does culture. - Act as a strategic business partner to senior leadership, offering financial insights and recommendations to support the achievement of organizational goals.
- Oversees the financial functions of the agency, ensuring the accuracy of financial records and guiding financial decision-making.
- Oversees all aspects of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Oversees the processing of all transactions, general ledger preparation, taxes (including state-to-state sales tax nexus where applicable), financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, and the support of budget and forecast activities.
- Manages cash flow projections, account billing and receivables.
- Mitigates financial risks and provides insight on financial implications of change.
- Manages finance team meetings on financial metrics.
- Reviews and analyzes key financial metrics, including profitability drivers.
- Explains and translates financial reports to agency team members.
- Oversee the client billing process, ensuring accurate and timely invoices are issued.
- Leads cash-flow management and projections.
- Prepares and audits monthly reconciliation and accruals.
- WIP Analysis on a monthly basis.
- Ensures an accurate and timely week, month, quarterly, and year-end close.
- Proactively identifies opportunities to streamline the financial processes and improve efficiency within the finance department.
- Oversees management of vendor contracts, vendor payments and relationships.
- Within the Finance Team, ensures that effective delegation, training, guidance, and feedback is happening and that all team members’ work meets agency and client performance standards.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of work-related experience in corporate finance or accounting. Preferably within the advertising industry but this is not a requirement.
- Company utilizes C&P (Clients and Profits) for its accounting system, so experience with C&P is a plus but not a requirement.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA certification is a plus.
- HIGH proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with diverse groups agency-wide.
- Team-player.
- In-depth understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Ability to work with multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
Accountability
- Reports directly to the President and Board CFO with indirect reporting to several members of the Executive Management team including the CEO, Board CEO and COO.
- THIS IS A PREDOMINATELY A “WORK FROM THE OFFICE” JOB. While we currently offer “Work from Home Wednesdays”, this job requires that you work in our Chicago office Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
