Star PR Director

relations strategies that deliver the right message, through the right media, at
the exact right time. If you have an in-depth knowledge of strategic planning –

Reports to: Agency President
- Provide strategic direction for integrated
communications to promote brands internally and externally across multiple
regions and demographics.
- Responsible for internal and external
communications including (but not limited to) press releases, blog posts,
newsletters and social media.
- Develop and maintain an efficient, profitable PR
department that helps further the business goals of the agency and agency
- Develop systems and procedures within the
department to effectively and efficiently serve its clients.
- Develop an understanding of the agency's
accounts and clients in order to add value.
- Managing social media programs and tracking
- Ensure brand consistency across all efforts.
- Quality assurance of all content, ensuring projects
are on strategy, meeting client expectations, delivering on business
objectives, and executed accurately and according to timelines.
- Provide Public Relations counsel to the agency
and its clients.
- Support new business initiatives.
Qualifications/Skills Required for this Position:
- Be knowledgeable beyond
public relations. A working knowledge of advertising and media, sales
promotion, and direct marketing is key to the director's ability to provide
leadership for new business development between the two sides of the agency,
and to the agency's ability to thoroughly integrate marketing communications
- Be an entrepreneur. The
director must be able to develop new business, interact with the highest-level clients,
and be creative in developing new services to offer clients.
- Be a leader. The director
must have a vision about where the department is going, and that vision must
dovetail with the agency's strategic intent.
- As the department's
leader, the director leads by example in the areas of self-discipline, hard
work, empowering others to do their best, and recognizing and rewarding hard
- Be a consultant. The
director consults daily with agency/coworkers on issues both complex and simple,
adding value by bringing experience to and good ideas about the process of
doing business as well as about the work itself.
- Be a counselor. The
director is the senior public relations counselor with experience in all
aspects of the discipline, and serves as the agency's key public relations
strategic and creative planner. In this role, the director must be able to
synthesize information, and develop insights into the clients' business
- Be persuasive. The
director must be sensitive to what clients want and need, have the instincts to
discover what clients will find valuable and appropriate, and be able to get
clients to want what the agency has to offer.
- Be a good manager. The
director must be able to organize the work of the public relations department. As a member of the directors group, he/she must also be
a significant contributor to the business of managing the entire agency so that
it is living up to its vision and plans.
- Have good judgment. The
director must be able to grasp complex issues quickly, and make the right
recommendations to clients who are facing a crisis.
